Guizhi Fuling (GZFL), also known as Gui Zhi Fu Ling Wan, is a traditional Chinese medicine formula that has been used for centuries to treat various health conditions, including uterine fibroids. Guizhi Fuling represents a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern science, offering a potential natural remedy for those struggling with uterine fibroids. The formula is composed of five herbs: Ramulus Cinnamomi (cinnamon twig), Poria, Semen Persicae, Radix Paeoniae Rubra or Radix Paeoniae Alba, and Cortex Moutan.
In traditional Chinese medicine, Guizhi Fuling is believed to work by promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, and resolving masses. It is also thought to assist with immune regulation and soften and resolve hard lumps.
Several clinical studies have investigated the efficacy of Guizhi Fuling in treating uterine fibroids. A systematic review and meta-analysis of 28 randomized controlled trials found that Guizhi Fuling, particularly when combined with low-dose mifepristone, could be beneficial in the treatment of uterine fibroids. However, the study also noted that the efficacy and safety of this combination remain controversial.
Recent studies have put Guizhi Fuling to the test, combining it with low-dose mifepristone, a medication known to block progesterone and potentially shrink fibroids. A systematic review and meta-analysis of 28 randomized controlled trials found that this combination might be more effective than mifepristone alone in reducing fibroid size and improving hormone levels.
Another study found that when the dosage of Guizhi Fuling was increased, fibroid volume decreased as compared with mifepristone alone. However, it’s important to note that the evidence is not definitive, and it does not necessarily indicate that Guizhi Fuling helps alleviate fibroid symptoms.
Research also suggests that Guizhi Fuling may inhibit tumor growth, angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels), and inflammation. A study published in 2022 found that Guizhi Fuling Capsule inhibited uterine fibroids growth, which was directly associated with Med12 modulated Wnt/ฮฒ-Catenin signaling pathway.
Despite these promising findings, more research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms of action and the potential benefits and risks of Guizhi Fuling for uterine fibroids. It’s also important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new treatment regimen. ย As science continues to explore its efficacy, it’s important to remember that the journey to health is personal and should be navigated with professional guidance.
